Talking Tins

A very popular product with our customers designed to help the visually impaired identify the contents of their tinned food and other containers. Label your tins, bottles or other containers, in an effective and simple way.  Simply press the dual buttons, talk in your short message (up to 8 seconds), and whenever you need to know what’s in the tin just press the larger black button.

The built in magnets hold the Talking Tin on to the top of the tin and when you have used the tin simply re-record your new message and place the Talking Tin onto your next container.

Tap Memo- voice activated personal data assistant

Tap memo is a revolutionary, handheld, battery powered voice activated personal data assistant that contains only one multi-functional button and two volume buttons. All verbal commands are Speaker Independent, which means the user does not need to train the unit – it will work “right out of the box”.

The Functions of the Tap Memo are as follows:

Memo pad, phone book, calendar, alarm clock, locking command, unit locator, talking time and date, battery level reading, memory available reading.

Tap memo is equipped with an earphone jack, a charging jack, and a belt clip on the back.

The Read Easy and Read Anywhere text readers

The new ReadEasy re-defines what a reading machine should be.  It is the lastest, easiest to use, most accurate text to speech reading machine available today.

Ease of use

The most important factor with any piece of technologically based equipment is its accessibility to the user.  For this reason the ReadEasy has been designed from the ground upwards with ease of use in mind.  We are confident that any user will quickly learn how to operate EasyRead with the aid of only one button – the help button. No matter what the user may be doing with the EasyRead, just press the help button at any time to be given an explanation of the functions of relevant button presses at that time.  The ReadEasy is also intelligent enough to recognise an incorrectly orientated document and will automatically rotate it once it has been scanned.

Accuracy

Being able to easily operate the EasyRead is all well and good, but if the text on the scanned document cannot be accurately recognised, it cannot be spoken accurately to the user, therefore rendering it useless. That is why ReadEasy uses the latest optical character recognition (OCR) engine that is recognised as being one of the most accurate available.

For ReadEasy multipage documents are not a problem, as documents with more than one page can easily be created.  Once the first page has been scanned, the following pages can be scanned in the background whilst the first page is being read out loud. This allows you to read continuously with no irritating pauses between pages.

Support exporting to MP3 Players

Users can now very simply plug in a USB MP3 player and choose to save their documents directly to their player in MP3 format so you can carry them with you anywhere.

Quality of speech

The ReadEasy uses the latest AT&T Natural voices for the highest quality speech there are four available with superb intonation. There is also the option, at a small charge, to include British Indian accent voice called Anjali.  Languages other than English are available, contact us for more details.

Sophie Pro Text Reader

The reading system, converting printed text into natural sounding speech, with the ability to connect any Handy Tech Braille display for refreshable Braille output. With a choice of 15 natural sounding voices to read to you, along with 10 different language options.

Easy and Brilliant

Sophie is light and compact easy to handle with only 4 main control keys and additional keys for navigation and to switch to audio book reading mode. Place any text on the glass, close the lid and press the “reading” button. No matter how you place the text on the built-in scanner of Sophie, even text with columns, Sophie automatically recognises the text and then reads it to you.  With the “start/stop” button, you can pause Sophie and start with reading again.  You can adjust the reading speed with the buttons “read faster” and “read slower”.

Sophie Pro, the multilingual Talent

Saving Text in Braille and Speech

When connecting a Handy Tech Braille display, within seconds, printed text will be converted into Braille.  By using a Braille display, it is also possible to navigate through the text by word, by line, by paragraph, or even by headline.

Any text can be saved within a Handy Text Braille system by pressing the “storing” key.

Listening to Audio

If you enjoy listening to audio books you can do so on the built-in Daisy player or in MP3 format and audio CD.  When connecting an MP3 player via USB to the Sophie Pro, the recognised text will be automatically converted by the Sophie Pro into an audio file using the MP3 format.  The “storing” button transfers the file automatically to your MP3 player.

This omni-directional scanner will pick up the bar code easily, when registered it will tell you if the code is not recognised, if not, then record your message to go with the code.
